My country, the Philippines is currently experiencing non-stop heavy rains for almost 48 hours now. It is caused by the seasonal southwest monsoon and Typhoon Saola that led to widespread flooding and landslides in parts of the Philippines specifically in Manila, forcing thousands of people to evacuate their homes immediately.
Schools and offices have been closed and authorities have issued a red alert throughout the metropolitan area as heavy rains are expected to continue for the next 24 hours. Power and water supply have been affected in parts of the capital and several roads remain impassable. Some people are stranded and currently staying at evacuation areas where they lack food, clothes, water, medicine and other necessities.
I’m currently on vacation here in Seoul and worrying about my fellow Filipinos struggling to surpass this calamity. Thank God, my family and friends are safe.
I would like to personally ask my readers to please PRAY for my country. That’s the best thing that we can do for now.

It’s during the worst of adversities that you see the best in Filipinos. I know that this too shall pass as long as we help each other. Thank you very much and God bless the Philippines!
